From Washington-based boatbuilder, Helmsman Trawlers has announced plans to build a new 38 Sedan, based off the popular 38 Pilothouse. With an overall length of 40 feet, 10 inches, the 38 Sedan offers a more traditional trawler design and more living space than the 37 Sedan.
The 38 Sedan will include exterior walk-arounds and a starboard-side door into the helm station, features requested by fans of the 38 Pilothouse. These side decks are protected by the flybridge’s overhang. The flybridge features an upper helm, an L-shaped settee that seats six and a dinghy mount aft.
Inside, the 38 maintains traditional nautical style with a roomy salon, all thanks to the wide beam of 13 feet, 11 inches. The salon boasts an extra two-feet of length compared to the 37 sedan, creating a more spacious galley and dining settee.
The 38 Sedan is offered as a one or two-stateroom model. The single stateroom layout consists of an owners’ stateroom in the bow and a spacious head with a separate shower.
Helmsman TrawlersIn the two-stateroom layout, the guest stateroom is aft of the owners’ cabin and to port. To starboard is the head with shower.
Helmsman TrawlersThe 38 is powered by a single Cummins QSB 6.7 liter 250-hp diesel engine. She is projected to have top speeds of 15 to 17 knots. She can hold 400 gallons of fuel and 145 gallons of water. The single-stateroom model is listed for $591,000.
