Norwegian builder Marex Boats announced an addition to its popular Scandinavia line of cabin cruisers. A primary feature of the new 390 is the enclosed deckhouse, which makes this boat suitable for cruising in a variety of conditions and in all seasons.

To design this 39-foot, 4-inch-long family weekender, the builder collected feedback from Marex owners, then shared the input with VOM Creations Yacht Design in Slovenia. The firm helped create spaces that Marex says are more open and comfortable than those on previous models in this line. The 390 will launch later in the year.

Most notable is the sliding glass door and retractable window that separate the cockpit from the deckhouse. The combination brings light into the living space and improves visibility for the skipper. The 390 also features a new pilot door beside the helm station, which simplifies docking for the captain, and improves ventilation for passengers.

The deckhouse includes a dinette with convertible bench, and galley with refrigerator, sink, cooktop and cabinets. Solar panels installed overhead provide power for the fridge and lights when you’re away from shore power, although a generator is offered as an option. A folding table serves as a practical solution for those working remotely.

The 390 can sleep four people belowdecks. Both the forward and midship cabins have double berths, plus wardrobes and stowage drawers. The midship cabin also has a sofa. The cabins share a single head with shower, and both have good natural light, thanks to the newly designed hullside windows, which also elevate the look of the boat’s exterior.

The Marex 390 is based on a warped hull design with a variable V-shape. Power options from Volvo Penta include two 320-hp D4 diesels, two 380-hp D6 engines, or a single 480-hp V-drive. The boat carries 230 gallons of fuel.

“This new model brings more space, smarter features, and fresh design updates,” said Espen Aalrud, CEO of Marex Boats, in a company statement.

Marex Boats is a family-owned shipyard founded in 1973 in southern Norway. In 2024, the company announced plans to expand its presence in the U.S. New Jersey-based Sandy Hook Yacht Sales and Brewer Yacht Sales in Connecticut and Rhode Island will be Marex’s primary dealers in the U.S.
