McCollough Yachts, based out of Newport, Rhode Island, is launching the Hope 40, a power catamaran that boasts hydrofoil technology.

With an overall length of 43 feet, the 40 brings classic New England styling to a new foiling package. Because a foil between hulls can be a liability in some sea conditions, the 40’s foil is fully retractable.

The Hope 40 can be built with either a pair of 600-hp Mercury outboards or 550-hp Yanmar inboard diesel engines mated to Hamilton Jet Drives.

With an overall beam length of 16.5 feet, the boat’s main deck is spacious and can entertain many guests comfortably. Belowdecks there are two staterooms and two heads, one with a separate shower.

“For years customers have asked us why existing power catamarans look like futuristic alien spacecrafts,” wrote a represent from McCollough Yachts in a recent press release. “They challenged us to design an attractive vessel that still utilizes the smooth riding characteristics of a foil-assisted power catamaran. The Hope 40 is our answer.”

Boatbuilder Front Street Shipyard in Belfast, Maine, will bring the Hope 40 to life.
