If you’re looking for a new cruising destination in the Bahamas, you won’t have long to wait. The Legendary Development Group, which has built marina resorts in Destin, Florida, is now in phase one of construction for a new location in the Bahamas. When completed in late 2025, the Legendary Marina Resort at Blue Water Cay in Nassau will have floating docks for boats up to 60 feet. Phase two of construction, scheduled to finish in 2026, will see the completion of docks for vessels up to 220 feet.
From this location, boat owners can explore prime cruising grounds in the Bahamas, including the Exumas, Eleuthera and the Berry Islands. Anglers in search of big game can pull lines in Exuma Sound and the Tongue of the Ocean.
In addition to wet slips, the resort will feature a hotel with 132 beds, 22 condominiums, beach-front cottages and accommodations for crew. Development plans also call for an on-site restaurant, a coffee shop, fuel dock and a boat yard that the developer says is the only one in Nassau equipped to haul and launch boats larger than 100 feet.
Another key feature is the dry storage facility for boats up to 55 feet. The building will be rated to meet Category 5 hurricane wind speeds. Most yacht insurance policies require this type of protection. Resort members can keep their boats in storage throughout hurricane season, although the marina will also offer daily, weekly and monthly dry storage rentals. The dry storage facility is secure, with 24/7 surveillance.
Concierge services will be available. Members can schedule yacht departures from a smartphone or tablet. If a boat is in dry storage facility, members can use the app-based reservation service to schedule an outing; the boat will be in the water upon a crew’s arrival, with fuel, ice and provisions.
In a press release, the developer calls this new property “an extraordinary family friendly club that caters to the yachting lifestyle, with unprecedented service offerings.”
