The Whaleback Lighthouse in Kittery Point, Maine, has served as a landmark into Portsmouth Harbor since 1830. The care of the once federally-owned beacon has been handed over to the Friends of the Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.
