Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp in 1983 set sail from Tahiti bound for San Diego, California, on what was to be a relaxing delivery through the tropics. Ambushed by Hurricane Raymond, they battled 140-knot winds and 40-foot waves before their yacht pitchpoled and was dismasted.

Now, a movie has been made about their ordeal. Titled Adrift, it’s based on Oldham’s book, Red Sky In Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss And Survival At Sea. We hope it’s more Perfect Storm than All Is Lost, perhaps one of the most inaccurate sea survival movies of all time. You can get a sneak peek by watching the trailer below. The movie debuts June 1.
