A birthday fishing trip with Chew On This Charters in Cape Coral, Florida, results in the catch of a lifetime for 30-year-old Mike, as well as an unexpected swim in the ocean.
According to the captain, Ben Chancey, Mike hooked the massive grouper in clear water and was initially handling it well, so Chancey let him reel it in on his own. After a few seconds of fighting, the fish pulled Mike down to the gunwale and took him overboard. When he grabbed the side of the boat, the fish pulled the rod to the bottom of the 40-foot-deep water.
Twenty minutes later, the party spotted the rod in the water and managed to hook it with their anchor. That’s when they realized that the fish was still attached to the line. Mike jumped into the water to get a photo with his catch, while another member of the party took the rod. The fish made another dash for the bottom, pulling the second angler overboard with the rod and reel.
