The Italian Coast Guard rescued 17 people from a 155-foot superyacht off the coast of Sardinia. Dramatic video footage showed the vessel engulfed in flames, almost burning down to the waterline and slipping below the waves.
The incident took place last Tuesday as the Lady MM was sailing from Capri to Porto Cervo. The Coast Guard sent two helicopters to assist in the rescue after receiving a distress signal at around 6 a.m.
The yacht had 17 passengers on board, nine crew members and eight guests from Kazakhstan, who abandoned ship via tender and were rescued by Coast Guard patrol boat. The Lady MM was built in 2013 under the name April Fool.
