Soundings is approaching a big anniversary. The magazine will soon turn a salty 60, so a celebration is in order.

To commemorate the passage of six decades, the editorial staff wants to highlight some of the most memorable stories we’ve published about boats—both power and sail—and the people who have helped to keep the sport interesting, exciting and adventurous. We have our favorite pieces, of course, and we’ll share those story selections in a future issue. But we’re also hoping to get feedback from you.

Is there a feature that you remember well and still reference when you’re in the mood for a swashbuckling, saltwater tale? Or perhaps you have admired the work of a particular writer over the years. Are there any clippings from old issues of the magazine that you’ve saved in a scrapbook somewhere? If you’ve held onto any work produced by the staff of Soundings, I hope you’ll share that content with our team, so we can pass it onto other subscribers who may not yet be familiar with it.

I started reading Soundings back in the mid-1980s, so I missed several years of great reporting and writing. What would you recommend I read? If you have old issues in your basement somewhere, I encourage you to take a photo of that article with the dog-eared page that you go back to every now and again. Then, send it to me at the email address below. Your input in the process of curating content for our 60th year is encouraged. After all, Soundings has been able to survive and thrive for this long because it has one of the most engaged readerships on the water. Your voice has always been our voice. We hope to hear from you soon.
