French multihull sailor Jean-Pierre Dick was training last Thursday in 15- to 20-knot winds in preparation for the Transat Jacques Vabre trans-Atlantic race when his 70-foot trimaran, Virbac-Paprec 70, capsized.

The capsize, which seems to unfold in slow motion as the multihull rides at a 90 degree angle, was captured on video from the air.

Dick suffered a back injury and was airlifted to a hospital. Crewman Roland Jourdain was not injured. The capsize happened off the French island of Belle Ile.
