Within today’s many boat styles is the compact cuddy, a dual-console sportboat with all sorts of uses — family outings, maybe a little fishing, water sports. It’s a popular type in Europe and Four Winns has introduced its own version, the S215.

With its vee hull — patented as the Stable Vee — the new Four Winns tops out at 53 mph with either a 300-hp Volvo Penta or MerCruiser sterndrive with counter-rotating props. Bucket console seats are mounted at a gray dash that sandwiches the companionway and its aluminum door, which slides inside the cabin overhead. The design stands out as a thoughtful space-saving alternative to the typical bifold door.
An aft bench seat in the cockpit and a sunpad that covers the engine compartment round out the seating/lounging accommodations. The cuddy is about 6 feet in length at its longest points. The aft berth cushion on the port side flips up and outboard to become the backrest for a jump seat below — another clever element. The berth’s center section folds forward to uncover the head and a storage compartment.
The S215 is priced at $50,615 with a 225-hp Volvo Penta 4.3 GXi SX sterndrive. It’s $58,308 with a 300-hp Volvo Penta GiC DP, and $56,462 with a 300-hp MerCruiser 350 MPIC Bravo 3. All prices include a Sure-Load custom-match tandem-axle trailer with tandem brakes. www.fourwinns.com
