Hunt Yachts is known for its cruisers, coupes and express motoryachts, but the builder continues to grow its fleet of open boats. The newest is the 32cc, a luxury center console that debuts next spring. “This boat really maximizes your time on the water by easily accommodating a full range of activities, including offshore fishing, cocktail cruising, swimming, day trips and transporting kayaks or scuba gear to your favorite harbor — in comfort and style,” says company president Peter Van Lancker.

Many center consoles are built for multipurpose use, and the 32cc stands out because of its large console, which extends all the way to the port side. With 6 feet, 2 inches of headroom, the console houses an enclosed stand-up head with shower, a “galleyette” with a microwave and storage and a single berth forward.

“One of the great selling points of this boat is the location of the console companionway; it’s outboard of the helm and faces aft,” says Van Lancker. “So access below is simple and requires no movement of cushions or other seating components. You can actually go below while you’re underway.” Builders of center consoles typically place the console door or companionway on the side or in the forward end behind a seat, he says.

The extended console also allows for J-shaped wraparound seating and an optional table in the bow.

In the cockpit, the transom seat folds out of the way if you’re going to do some fishing and the leaning post can be configured for fishing or day cruising, says Van Lancker.

The 32cc rides a Hunt deep-vee hull, so it’ll deliver that same soft ride other models are known for, says Van Lancker. Hull No. 1 is expected to be completed this spring and will serve as a demo boat. Van Lancker says the company has pre-sold hull No. 2.

Outboards (twin 250s, 300s or 350s) will serve as the primary propulsion, but the boat will also be available with inboard or I/O power. Hunt builds two other center consoles, the Surfhunter 25cc and the HBI 30 RIB.
