Southport Boats, the Maine builder of outboard-powered center and dual console boats, announced new, larger models and a collaboration with Volvo Penta to add inboard power to its lineup.
Construction of a new 38-footer, the 38FE, will begin in the spring of 2023. The 38FE follows in the footsteps of the highly successful 33FE. A 38-foot dual console and a 42-footer are planned as well.
In addition, Southport recently collaborated with Volvo Penta to make an inboard version of its 30FE. The 30-foot model was fitted with the first of Volvo Penta’s Integrated Propulsion System with a single diesel D6-440 Aquamatic DPI Inboard.
“It allows for unobstructed access to the water from the transom, as well as increased efficiency,” says George Menezes, COO and managing partner of Southport. “It completely changes the feel of the boat.”
