The Finnish boat manufacturer XO Boats, known for its robust deep-V aluminum-hulled boats, has announced its latest model, the XO DFNDR 8.
The DFNDR 8 will come in two different versions, one with open “safari” walls and another one with fully enclosable side screens. It will be semi-customizable. For example, the open version can be configured to a more enclosed cabin boat by choosing the fixed side windows as extras. Designed for sport fishing, day cruising, or commuting in rough weather, the XO DFNDR 8 will also have an option for a cabin aft wall with a sliding door.
The new model will feature a walkthrough layout, with a raised mid-level deck on the bow that can turn into a full-sized sun bed. Passenger seats in the saloon can be converted into a bed for two, and like its sister model, the XO DFNDR 9, the DFNDR 8 will come with a separate head.
“What sets the new DFNDR 8 apart from the competitors is definitely the phenomenal driving qualities under rough weather conditions. As I tested the prototype of this boat, I was genuinely excited how we have managed to improve this feature, which has already been excellent in all XO’s models,” says Erkki Talvela, the CEO of XO Boats.
Standard power will be a 300-hp outboard. A single 450-hp V8 or twin 225-hp V6 engines are available as options. With twin engines, XO says the DFNDR 8 will reach speeds in excess of 50 knots.
Production of the XO DFNDR 8 is set to begin next fall.
