In Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, the Coast Guard received a call from a boat with four people and a dog that was taking on water.

A 29-foot USCG rescue boat from the local Barnegat Light station was already on the water and responded. The 30-foot boat they found was already sinking, so the rescue team quickly transferred the people and dog to the USCG boat right before the 30-footer capsized.
While the owner of the boat believed, the sinking was caused by a loose plug somewhere in the boat, the Coast Guard could not confirm this. “The timing of this rescue was fortunate,” said Chief Warrant Officer James B. Corbisiero, “I commend the Coast Guard boat crew’s attentiveness and fast actions to aide these people and their dog.”
Later, a commercial salvage company recovered the sunken vessel and towed it the Lanoka Harbor Marina.
