Two fishermen were rescued Sunday after their 21-foot boat sank in Chesapeake Bay a mile off Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

Three men were aboard the boat when it sank about 9:30 p.m. Saturday west of Kiptopeke State Park near Cape Charles.

One of those aboard, Eduardo Montalvo, swam to shore and called 911 about 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

About 4 a.m. Sunday, a Coast Guard helicopter crew out of North Carolina located Bonatacio Montalvo, 64, of Machipongo, Virginia, who also swam to shore, and hoisted him aboard.
