Sir Francis Chichester’s famous yacht Gipsy Moth IV could become a regular sight on the Solent if plans go through to save the historic boat.
The 53-foot yacht, built in 1967, belonged to circumnavigator Chichester who set several sailing records on her before she fell into disrepair in a dry dock beside the Cutty Sark.
After a restoration project by the Cowes-based United Kingdom Sailing Trust, she was sold to business couple Rob Thomson and Eileen Skinner last year. The two have big plans for the yacht.
