The National Sailing Hall of Fame and Herreshoff Marine Museum & America’s Cup Hall of Fame are partnering to open an America’s Cup Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Several American inductees are members of both halls of fame, so this partnership will allow them to create a comprehensive visitor experience.

The National Sailing Hall of Fame purchased the historic Armory Building in Newport in early 2019, which holds significance to many sailors as the site of many America’s Cup activities during its 12 Metre era. The partners are developing exhibits at this location that should appeal to sailors and non-sailors alike.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to introduce the America’s Cup Hall of Fame experience and its inductees to a new and bigger audience in this historic building in the sailing capital of the United States,” says Herreshoff Marine Museum President Bill Lynn. The opening date for the new exhibits will be announced later this summer.
