A sheriff’s patrol jet boat in Butte County, Calif., was pulled from a gravel bar in the middle of the Sacramento River just before 1 p.m. Thursday, about 24 hours after it got stuck there during a training exercise.

An official said a deputy who had been assigned to take over boat patrol operations was being trained by a deputy who is leaving that position.
