Rand, the Danish boatbuilder, has launched a 32-footer, the Escape 32, which it calls the perfect balance between a sports boat and day yacht.

Interestingly, the builder, which is known for its electric-powered boats, is offering the modern-looking, Scandinavian-styled hull with a wide variety of power options. Those options include a 270- or 300-KW electric drive that provides a top speed of 35 knots; twin Mercury 250 outboards that provide a top speed of 44 knots; two varieties of twin 300-hp Mercruisers that give you a 45 knot WOT; or twin 270-hp Mercury diesel inboards for a top speed of 40 knots.

The Escape 32 has an overnight cabin with a combined toilet and shower, a forward lounge on the bow, an outdoor galley behind the helm and a covered dining area. The 32 has a walk-around cockpit and is capable of accommodating up to 12 people. A modern T-top design with windscreen provides protection from the sun and can be fully enclosed when the weather turns foul.

The Escape will be available this summer. Rand has 11 dealers in North America, including Miami, Toronto, Long Island, and 8 inland locations in the Southeast.
