Tiara Yachts, with the announcement of its new dayboat, is looking forward while paying homage to the past. The 39 LS is the sixth model in the Michigan yard’s Luxury Sport (LS) series of outboard-powered yachts from 34 to 56 feet length overall. It brings together some of the best features in the lineup, giving owners options to help maximize whatever kind of fun they like to have on the water.
Gabe Rose, design manager at Tiara Yachts, says the impetus for building the 39 was the builder’s first-ever outboard-powered boat, the 38 LS. “That boat really started us on this,” Rose says. “Coming at that segment of the market with a new 39 just makes a lot of sense because it allows us to now refresh our oldest product in the line. It’s still a great-running, great-selling model, but like anything, we wanted to obsolete it before somebody else did it for us.”
Owners can customize their 39 LS by selecting one of two cockpit modules. The “Buffet Lounge” has rotating lounge seating aft, which lets the party turn in whatever direction the view is the best. The “Adventure Module” can be configured for fishing, diving and more, making it the likely choice for boaters who want a more active experience on the water. Expect electric grills with both setups, to cook up the day’s catch.
One primary difference between the 38 and the 39 is usable real estate for relaxation on board. With its newest model, Tiara adds an extendable, synthetic-teak terrace aft and to port, expanding the 76-square-foot cockpit to 96 square feet. This change also adds approximately 2 feet to the 12-foot, 6-inch beam, Rose says.
“When you zoom in on the boat, you’ll see we’ve done a lot more with the feature content,” he says, adding that the extra space lets the crew spread out and get comfortable. “And it gives you that connection to the water. We hadn’t gotten there yet, as a company, with the 38 and some of our earlier LSs.”
Further adding to that concept, the cockpit also has an aft-facing, U-shaped settee. Side decks are 17 inches wide, leading to the 51-square-foot bow seating area that can be filled to create a sun pad.
Belowdecks, there is a queen-size berth forward, along with a head and a separate shower. Down a couple more steps and located amidships is the versatile midcabin area, which can be utilized as stowage, as a reprieve from the sun or as a makeshift stateroom—a curtain separates the two sleeping areas. Headroom is 6 feet, 6 inches.
Power for the 39 LS is twin 600 hp Mercury Verado outboards. In addition to an integrated Garmin navigation system, standard electronics include EmpirBus digital switching and Zipwake Dynamic Trim. Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards is optional with an integrated bow thruster.
Hull No. 1 was expected to make its debut at Tiara’s VIP summer event in Michigan. The hull is then expected to make its rounds through the Newport, Norwalk, Annapolis and Fort Lauderdale boat shows this fall.
