Right before the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show opened yesterday, Albemarle Boats and Spencer Sportfish announced a new partnership.

Albemarle Boats, a builder of offshore sportfishing boats from 25 to 41 feet, has crafted more than 3,800 hulls since 1978. According to General Manager Burch Perry, many Albemarle customers have requested a bigger boat, and the company has been considering making this move for a number of years. Spencer Sportfish, a semi-custom Carolina builder with more than 120 boats under its belt, many of which are fishing in tournaments around the world, represented the perfect partner.

“We have always dreamed of a way to provide the Spencer experience to our clients through a more readily available market,” says Paul Spencer, President of Spencer Sportfish. “We are excited to bring our dream to reality by teaming up with Albemarle to combine the classic Spencer styling along with the Albemarle quality and innovations.”

The partners revealed a drawing of their new 53-foot hull design during a special event at FLIBS yesterday morning. The hull mold is currently under construction at Albemarle’s Edenton, North Carolina, facility, and they expect to begin construction of the first hull in early 2021.
