Arksen—the British builder of Explorer yachts up to 85 feet and an Adventure series of smaller recreational boats—has added two models to its line. Both will be on display at the Palm Beach International Boat Show this week.
The Arksen 28 and 30 are built in collaboration with Finland’s XO Boats, which manufacturers go-anywhere vessels out of military-grade aluminum. The difference between an XO and an Arksen consists of paint colors, fabrics and other high-end features that take the XO to a more semi-custom level.

“We are delighted to partner with Arksen, who not only consider performance, safety and onboard amenities as a priority, but also the environmental impact of the vessels; a vital factor that is sadly often overlooked.” says Erkki Talvela, the CEO of XO Boats.
Arksen was founded about two years ago and makes expedition and explorer yachts between 65 and 85 feet. According to its website, the company was founded to build vessels capable of exploring some of the wildest places on the planet and to motivate the next generation of explorers, scientists and conservationists. Arksen also markets the Arksen 45, which is the flagship of the Adventure series and is built by Ring Powercraft, the British performance sport boat and RIB manufacturer.
The Arksen 28 and 30 Adventure boats feature a protected pilothouse and a deep-V hull that can handle rough offshore conditions.
Modeled after the XO EXPLR range the Arksen 30 is equipped to sleep four (and up to six with the optional canvas sleep pod). It can be powered by a single 350-hp outboard or twin 250-hp outboards. With twins it can hit a top speed of more than 45 knots. It has wraparound windows, a large opening sunroof and a roof rack to hold water toys. The aft cockpit seats six as does the portside table inside the pilothouse. A galley is aft to starboard with a single seat for the driver forward. Below, is a berth for two and an electric head. The pilothouse seat converts to a berth for two.
Arksen is building its own distribution network in the U.S. The Arksen adventure boats on display at the Palm Beach show will be heading west to Arksen’s first U.S. dealer in Seattle.
The arrangement between Arksen and XO Boats is similar to the one between Finnish boatbuilder Axopar and German high-performance automotive aftermarket tuning company Brabus.
Arksen will offer syndicated boat club ownership options. “The Adventure Syndicate is designed to provide you with all the good bits of boat ownership, but without the hassle and frustration of paying to own all of a boat that you may not be able to make full use of,” says Dominic Bryne, sales and marketing director of Arksen.
