When Back Cove Yachts released the Back Cove 34O with outboard engines last year, it was a departure for the Rockland, Maine, builder, which had long been known for its Downeast-style, inboard-powered models.
Now, Back Cove has announced that it will release a second outboard-powered model, the Back Cove 39O in 2020.
Back Cove says the new 39-footer will have a range of 300-plus miles at cruise, and a top speed of 37 knots with twin 425-hp Yamaha XTO425 outboards. Triple 300-hp Yamahas will be standard, but the company intends to provide optional power packages that will give the 39O a top end of more than 40 knots. The 39O’s hull design will have the same Trailing Edge Lifting Surface (TRELIS) *D* technology as the 34O that they say improves performance and handling.
The 39O’s cockpit will have port and starboard transom gates, a U-shaped settee across from an aft-facing seat, and a table for dining and entertaining. The cockpit will also feature a large actuated hatch to access stowage below for water toys and other gear.
The 39O will feature a fully enclosed, climate-controlled bridge with full protection from the elements. The area will also feature a galley and side-by-side captain and mate seats opposite a U-shaped settee.
Belowdecks are a port lounge area and a forward owners’ cabin with a queen-sized island berth that includes private access to the head and shower. Abaft the lounge area, the guest cabin has two single beds below the pilothouse.
Back Cove says tooling work has already begun and that the first 39O will launch in late summer of 2020. She will debut at the 2020 fall boat shows from Newport, Rhode Island, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
