Giant bluefin tuna are highly sought out by both commercial and recreational anglers. The fish are prized in Japan, where they are live-auctioned like fine artwork at markets such as the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. Back in 2013, a 500-pound bluefin tuna sold in Japan for a record $1.8 million. Watch this video of fishermen on a charter boat at Fishermans Bank, off the coast of Prince Edward Island in Canada, feeding herring to these graceful and powerful giants.

NOAA reports that Bluefin tuna can reach up to 2,000 pounds in weight, with a maximum length up to 13 feet. Commercial fishermen and recreational anglers can capture these fish using a variety of gear including—believe it or not—harpoons.
