This week, Boston Whaler announced the newest member of its Dauntless family, the 280 Dauntless. An all-new, keel-up design the 280 is the flagship of the Dauntless line and according to a press release from Boston Whaler now completes the Dauntless evolution. The 280 joins the 220 Dauntless and 250 Dauntless.
Boston Whaler says the 280 Dauntless is designed for cruising, fishing, watersports and more, combining inshore performance with “limitless offshore confidence” and can be customized with dozens of options.
The 280 Dauntless has an open bow. Seating is available on a lounge seat in front of the console, on the bow to port and starboard with pull-up backrests, and a flip-up bench seat for two in the stern deck. The standard convertible helm seat with electric actuation can quickly convert into an aft-facing seat at the push of a button.
Cup holders and other amenities include a bow table and coolers. The 280 Dauntless features a large stern platform for boarding from the dock or the water, including a retractable boarding ladder on the starboard side. An optional swim patio provides swimmers more access to the water.
For anglers, the new model includes a large casting platform, a 19-gallon livewell, a large fishbox with pump-out and increased storage for fishing gear. An optional full glass windshield protects the helm from the elements, and an outrigger package is also available.
Also available are a deluxe leaning post, gyro stabilizer, freshwater sink and rod holders on either side. An optional PTX shade that can provide complete cockpit coverage is also available. Boston Whaler also offers Simrad navigation electronics, JL Audio controls, amps and speakers, and digital switching for integrated control.
“This is a no-limits boat that puts adventure within easy reach,” said Boston Whaler president Kris Neff.
The 280 Dauntless is available with either a single 350- or 400-hp Mercury outboard or twin 250- or 300-hp Mercurys with joystick piloting options.
