Heavy seas are no force to trifle with. On January 16, a Ukrainian-owned cargo ship split in two after hitting a huge wave off the coast of Turkey.
After the wave snapped the keel near the bow, the ship sank. Onboard cameras captured the exact moment the ship split, which was followed by the crew members desperately issuing a mayday call. Three sailors were killed, and the rest were rescued by a search operation.
