A cruising couple and their dog survived a shipwreck of their 36-foot sailboat off one of South Africa’s most dangerous coasts by swimming to shore.
British sailors Graham and Sheryl Anley, accompanied by their Jack Russell terrier, Rosie, were on a three-month get away to Madagascar aboard their boat, Boundless.
At about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, the boat ran aground at in rough weather and seas up to 23 feet.
What international news reports focused on was the fact that the skipper rescued his dog first, while his wife was still aboard their foundering vessel.
However, his wife says she insisted Rosie be saved first, according to a CNN report.
