Casual standup paddleboarders might love the activity, but a 35-year-old enthusiast took it to another level on Saturday by traversing the 90 mile stretch between Cuba and Key West.
The trip took a little more than 28 hours.
Ben Friberg, a musician from Chattanooga, Tenn., is believed to be the first person to have made the journey.
When only 15 miles away Sam Silvey, a local adventurer, who is documenting the trip, said, “He’s hurting but it looks like he will make it.”
