While diving off the Carmel coast of Israel, Shlomi Katzin found a sword on the sandy floor of the Mediterranean Sea that archaeologists say is about 900 years old.
Measuring about four feet long and weighing four pounds, experts say it originates from the Third Crusade.
Israel has a law that requires any found artifacts to be returned to the nation, so Katzin is giving the shell-encrusted weapon to the Israel Antiquities Authority.
He declined to be interviewed for a story because he wanted the focus to be on the artifact. All he wanted was a photo of himself with the sword.
