Commercial fishermen trawling off Mooloolaba in Queensland, Australia, thought they had secured a hefty catch last week, and they weren’t entirely wrong, only it wasn’t fish in their net. When their haul reached the surface, they realized they had caught a fishing boat.

The boat belonged to two fishermen whose boat sank 20 nautical miles off Mooloolaba in August. The two men had called for help over the radio and activated an EPIRB, and the Coast Guard had found them clinging to an ice chest and wearing inflatable PFDs.

The fishermen likely never thought they would see their boat again, but once it was recovered by the trawler, it was refloated and returned to port. Against all odds, it is now sitting at the Water Police pontoon.
