The Kadey-Krogen Group has announced that it has acquired American Tugs of LaConner, Washington. American Tugs, founded in 1999 by marine industry veterans, have long built U.S. made coastal cruisers. The Kadey-Krogen Group, known for its Kadey-Krogen trawlers and Summit Motoryachts, will also acquire American Tugs’ 28,000-square-foot facility. Kadey-Krogen Group plans to continue to market Krogen, American Tugs and Summit brands separately.

For boaters, this acquisition may mean new boat plans may be coming to the market. An expansion in production and distribution may also emerge because of the acquisition. “We are certainly looking at ways of combining forces on the production side where it makes sense,” said Fran Morey, Kadey-Krogen Group Production Manager. “American Tugs has a world class team of engineers and builders, and we’re looking forward to working with them to create some incredible boats. It’s a win-win.”
