Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding of Thomaston, Maine, and C.W. Hood Yachts of Marblehead, Massachusetts, are working together on a new boat: the Hood 42 LM. This flybridge cruiser was designed by Chris Hood of C.W. Hood Yachts and is inspired by the classic Downeast Wasque designs. The model will be built from a cold-molded wood composite and constructed at the Lyman-Morse yard.

The Hood 42 LM measures 42 feet long overall and utilizes a modern hull shape for optimized performance. The vessel features a lower cabin with owner’s stateroom and private head with shower. On the main deck, there is a single-level living and entertaining space that combines the lower helm station, galley to port and salon with settee and table. Large windows allow for plenty of light and ventilation.
The helm on the open flybridge features 360-degree sightlines. Power comes from twin Volvo Penta inboards with DPS drives, which provide a cruise in the mid 30-knot range, according to Lyman-Morse.
Hull No. 1 is currently under construction. The Hood 42 LM is the third in a series of boats from Lyman-Morse and Hood Yachts. The others are the Hood 57 LM and 35 LM.
