After his jon boat capsized, Charles Gregory spent nearly two days floating away from the Florida coast as sharks sometimes circled him.
Gregory had set out for a day of fishing, but was reported missing when he didn’t return the same evening.
According to The Surf Station, a local surf shop where Gregory works, a wave caused his boat, to flip and caused everything onboard to be thrown into the water. Gregory treaded water alongside his boat because it would sink when he tried to climb aboard. However, when sharks began to circle him he climbed into the boat to protect himself.
The U.S. Coast Guard brought him back to land after an aircrew spotted him. Gregory said about 20 to 25 boats and planes had passed him, but none had spotted him. He suffered a serious sunburn while at sea and had trouble walking when he got back to land but was expected to recover.
