Italian automaker Maserati recently announced its first-ever, all-electric motorboat; the Maserati Tridente. The launch of the vessel coincides with the brand’s 110th anniversary.

At 34-feet long overall, the Tridente will be built by Hodgdon Yachts in Maine. The hull of Tridente will be like the design on the yard’s Limousine, Open, and Beachlander models from the Hodgdon Tenders series, designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design.

Most exciting for the Maserati Tridente is the electric propulsion system, built in collaboration with Vita Power. The brand has been working with Hodgdon Tender for its electric tenders since 2020. For the Tridente, Vita Power built a 252-kWh powertrain that’s equivalent to 600 hp. Preliminary specs predict a charging time under one hour via DC power, with a cruise of 25 knots and top speed of 40 knots.
The Tridente can serve as a tender or a dayboat, with the ability to accommodate dining. Seating for eight includes an aft-facing settee at the swim platform, and a sunpad that doubles as a tanning area. In the cabin is a single berth and head.
