A Florida man who had just purchased a used 43-foot Viking motoryacht took it for a test run on the Intracoastal Waterway with the broker who had sold it.
They fueled up the yacht at Halifax Harbor Marina in Daytona and departed for nearby Merritt Island.
They never made it as within 2-1/2 miles into the cruise, the boat caught fire and after failing to extinguish the blaze, both owner and broker jumped into the river.
