Sailing yacht builder Morris Yachts held a send-off celebration Wednesday in Bass Harbor, Maine, for its Shearwater Hull 1, which is off to the Coast Guard Academy for use as a training vessel.
The boat, almost two years in the making, left Friday.
Morris Yachts invited the public to see the boat and be part of the send-off celebration at its service yard. Allen Kruger, Jack Needs and Charlie Olsen of the Coast Guard Academy and other dignitaries were at the Morris celebration.
Hulls 2 and 3 are under construction.
