A photographer who went to the beach to shoot some waves, instead captured an image of a great white shark swimming right behind a surfer who was headed out to catch some waves.
Joe Mault, who owns Orleans Camera & Video on Cape Cod saw a surfer heading out, when he saw the shark’s dorsal fin break the water. The image has gone viral.
“Shortly thereafter [the surfer] looked over his shoulder and noticed the shark,” Mault told the Boston Globe. “The encounter didn’t last very long, fortunately.”
The surfer immediately returned to the beach, unharmed.
