New Jersey state troopers and TowBoatUS pulled 11 people and a dog from the Point Pleasant Canal on Sunday after their 21-foot boat capsized.

The TowBoatUS crew pulled two people from the canal and troopers from the Point Pleasant Marine Station in two other boats rescued the other nine and the dog, police told the Asbury Park Press. No one was injured. All of the boaters refused medical attention.

Troopers responded to a 5:40 p.m. call that a boat was sinking near the Lovelandtown Bridge and were joined at the scene by the TowBoat US boat.

“This incident could have quickly become a tragedy due to the fact that none of the boat occupants were wearing personal flotation devices,” police told the news outlet. “There is also no doubt that tragedy was averted due to the quick response of the troopers.”
