The Boat Harbour Championship, the second leg of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship, opened Wednesday, May 18, at Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour Marina and continues through Saturday.

“We are at Abaco Beach Resort for leg 2 of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship. Fourteen of the best fishing teams are here competing. Day one concluded with 20 billfish released,” tournament director Jennifer Dudas said.

New to the BBC this year is the $5,000 Grand Slam Bonus, which is awarded to the first team in a BBC tournament to catch a blue marlin, a white marlin and a sailfish in one day. Team Uno Mas did that on Wednesday, releasing a blue marlin, two white marlin and a sailfish to win the prize.

Fishing continues today and Saturday. Keep up with live scoring at http://bhc16.catchstat.com/.

Back by popular demand is the $1 Million Dollar Marlin. The BBC will give that award to an angler who catches a blue marlin that breaks the current Bahamas record of 1,119 pounds.

The Bahamas Billfish Championship is produced and managed by the AIM Marine Group. The BBC was purchased in 2014 by Active Interest Media, which owns Soundings Trade Only, among many other special-interest magazines.
