The Shelter Island Runabout, a design conceived in the 1990s by singer-songwriter Billy Joel and designer Doug Zurn and built by Long Island’s CH Marine, is available with outboard power. Power configurations consists of twin outboard engines ranging from 300 to 450 horsepower per engine.

At 38 feet long, the Shelter Island Runabout utilizes a moderate V-hull design with 15 degrees of deadrise at the transom and a beam of 10 feet.

Wraparound seats, folding captain chairs or center facing benches in the pilothouse are some of the seating layout options. The runabout features a canvas top, although it is also available with a hardtop.

The interior varnish is a traditional ‘rubbed’ effect finish, but can alternatively be finished with a bright gloss. There is plenty of natural light and ventilation throughout thanks to four opening ports and overhead hatches.
