A new study commissioned by the Pew Environment Group suggests that the fishing industry makes a mockery of efforts to regulate the catch of the endangered bluefin tuna in the Mediterranean.
The amount of eastern Atlantic bluefin tuna traded on the global market in 2010 exceeded the official quota by 141 percent — in other words, nearly two and half times what is mandated, according to an analysis commissioned by Pew.
