On Tuesday morning, thanks to a light breeze, Team Malizia sailed to victory in Genova, Italy, passing Team Holcim-PRB.

“I’m very happy and very proud of this team,” said Malizia skipper Boris Herrman. “It’s been a privilege to work with all of them. We have the most sailors who completed the full race and Rosie is the only female to do the whole lap of the planet.”

After their finish, the winds diminished almost completely, leaving Biotherm and Holcim-PRB to a slow fight for second. Biotherm claimed second, with Holcim-PRB taking third.

The other two IMOCA boats, 11th Hour Racing and GUYOT Environment retired after a collision at the start line in The Hague, with GUYOT Environment claiming responsibility for the accident. The final positions for the 2023 Ocean Race are in limbo while the teams wait for a Redress request, which is yet to be decided.

The American team, 11th Hour Racing, is one point behind Holcim-PRB, so a one-point or larger redress will give them an overall victory.
