It’s hard to believe, but Hinckley’s Picnic Boat, the model that made the builder a powerhouse in powerboating, is turning 30.
Hinckley Yachts is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic design with the Picnic Boat Signature Edition line. It includes the Picnic Boat 37 S and Picnic Boat 40 S—the latter now offered with SilentJet technology.
“The Signature Series of Picnic Boats denotes an exceptional high level of options that are all standard,” said Scott Bryant, VP of Sales and Marketing at Hinckley Yachts. “We did this a few years ago leveraging the slogan Excellence Comes Standard.”
Hybrid propulsion is the latest addition to the Picnic Boat design that first took the world by storm in 1994. The SilentJet system reduces the noise of a diesel engine at lower speeds by switching to the quiet of electric drive. Instead of listening to the hum of a motor, guests can enjoy conversation and the sound of rushing water.

Founded in 1928, the Hinckley Company is also approaching its centennial. Over the decades Hinckley has honed the features of its boats—previously in sail and more recently in power—to create a reputation for classic boating elegance.
The latest Picnic Boats continue that tradition.
