Seals make a great meal for a great white, which is why an explosion in the gray seal population has the ocean’s ultimate predator coming closer and closer to New England beaches.

In case you didn’t see this amazing video taken Monday off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, watch as a great white shark feverishly tries to get a bite on a seal just a few yards from shore.

This time, the little guy got away.

The video is by Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, working with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, based in Orleans, Mass.
