After more than three years of work the Matthew Turner, the first new tall ship built in the San Francisco Bay Area in more than 85 years, touched water April 1.
Marin Independent Journal reports that the brigantine, which cost about $6.3 million to build, is operated by Call of the Sea, an educational nonprofit in Sausalito, Calif., that seeks to inspire young people through experiential, environmental education under sail.
