The crew of the new container ship MSC Zoe recently entered the port of Hamburg, Germany, for the first time, and they brought with them a healthy sense of humor.
The Swiss-flagged Zoe is one of the largest container ships in the world at a staggering 1,297 feet. It has a 194-foot beam and weighs 193,000 gross tons.
Science fiction fans might think of it as a “Death Star” of sorts, a reference to the fictional spacecraft and galactic weapon in the “Star Wars” movie franchise. To announce Zoe’s entrance in port, the crew blasted out the “Star Wars” theme song to the delight of a dockside crowd.
The crew’s musical tribute was valiant, but they really should have gone with this “Star Wars” tune by the London Symphony Orchestra.
