Deep-sea divers never know what they’re going to find.

Scientists diving recently near the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific came across the first biofluorescent reptile ever recorded.

While filming coral off the Solomon Islands, David Gruber, a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, encountered a “bright red-and-green spaceship.”

What he actually encountered was an alien of another kind.

This underwater UFO turned out to be a hawksbill sea turtle, according to National Geographic. Gruber said it’s the first time biofluorescence has been seen in reptiles.
