The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland, is overseeing the return of the Edna E. Lockwood to her original condition.

The restoration has begun and will take about two years to complete. The museum hopes the ship can be ready in time to be launched at the 2018 CBMM Oyster Fest, which usually takes place on the last Saturday in October.

This video has more about log-bottom boats:

A crew of three shipwrights and three apprentices will work on Edna through the winter; they hope to have her log bottom pinned together by spring. You can follow the project’s progress by visiting ednalockwood.org.

The December issue of Soundings has more about the restoration.
