During the next two years shipwrights from Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and the living history museum Plimouth Plantation in Massachusetts will be restoring the Mayflower II.
Connecticut TV station WTNH reports that the restoration will replace about 50 percent of the wood on the 60-year-old ship to prepare it for the 400th commemoration of the Pilgrims’ arrival at Plymouth in 2020.

Mayflower II, a 106-foot square-rigged ship with a beam of about 25 feet,arrived at Mystic Seaport on Nov. 2 last year and will remain there until the restoration is completed in the spring of 2019.
